ABD is an advanced engineering company involved in the bespoke design, manufacture and supply of advanced passenger vehicle testing technology to the global automotive industry.

ABD was founded in 1982 by the Chairman of the Board, Anthony Best. Tony was formerly Chief engineer at Moulton Developments Ltd in Bradford on Avon and started ABD in 1982 as company providing vehicle suspension, noise and mechanical vibration consultancy to the automotive and nuclear industry. As the company has grown it has moved from a consultancy base to designing, manufacturing and supplying vehicle testing technology to the global automotive test industry.

In May 2013 the company listed on the London AIM stock market. They have become a world leader in the manufacture and supply of advanced automotive test equipment. In an industry normally dominated by German and US companies they export over 90% of their products to the global automotive industry in Asia, Europe and North America. Its many clients include Ford, Toyota, Daimler, BMW, Volkswagen and Honda.

At their current facilities in Bradford on Avon and Holt they engage in the design, manufacture and supply to the global automotive industry of advanced testing and measurement products for vehicle suspension, brakes and steering both in the laboratory and on the test track. Their products are used for research, development and production quality control and make cars that are safer and more pleasing to drive.

Since the time of its inception they have grown and become a major employer in town with over 60 employees. In 2016 the company hopes to be completing the build of its new factory nearby, with a capacity to house over 80 employees in one place.

The company was an early pioneer of driverless car technology using inertial GPS motion packs to control the path of a vehicle in 2001, and in 2007 was one of the first manufacturers to sell a system for testing vehicles on the track without a driver onboard - this is the award-winning Driverless Test System.

ABD established a market leading position as solutions provider to the automotive product development industry and is working in the following key automotive development sectors:
