A TEENAGER is due to be be sentenced next month after 22 wraps of heroin were alleged to have been found in his boxer shorts when he was picked up by police officers earlier this month.

Fuze Munye, 19, had come to Swindon from his native Buckinghamshire on Wednesday, March 4, when he became the subject of police suspicion.

After indicating a guilty plea to a single charge of possession with intent to supply heroin on Wednesday, Swindon Magistrates' Court said they were unable to deal with the 19-year-old, as they had insufficient sentencing powers.

Wearing a jumper and baggy jeans, Munye spoke to confirm his name, age and address before Munye was sent up to the higher court.

It is said that during a full search of Munye, the 22 'street deals' were found, thought to be worth in the region of £220.

Pauline Lambert, prosecuting, told the court: "It is a charge of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, specifically heroin. Whether that takes the form of a significant role or a lesser role, the Crown would submit it is not suitable for this jurisdiction.

"This is a case where police officers have carried out a stop and search of Mr Munye while he is in Swindon. It is said there is a wrap of heroin hidden within his boxer shorts.

"That wrap is then found to contain a further 22 wraps of heroin within that one that was recovered from him. Those wraps amount to 4.8 grams in total, at an estimated value of £220."

Gordon Hotson, defending Munye, asked the court to extend his bail conditions.

"He appears on unconditional bail, which would be extended to the crown court," he said.

Munye was told that because what he is set to admit is classed as street dealing of heroin, it is a serious offence and sentencing powers of magistrates are not sufficient to deal with the matter, so he would appear at Swindon Crown Court on April 24.

He was released on unconditional bail until that date.
