THERE were delays of almost an hour for drivers on the M4 this morning due to a crash involving a number of vehicles.
Two of the lanes were closed between junction 17 and 18 westbound near Chippenham and Bath this morning causing gridlock and queues to junction 16.
All lanes reopened at around 11.30am after the cars were moved to the hard shoulder.
Drivers heading for a Bank Holiday getaway were caught up in the long tailbacks and Highways England were reporting delays of almost an hour.
As of 12.10pm they said there were delays of 30 minutes and traffic started flowing as usual just after 1pm.
Police were also at the scene.
