POLICE were called this morning (JULY 23) following reports of a man seen with a knife in the town centre.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray following a disorder in the car park at the junction of Princes Street and Gordon Road at 8.50am.

After reports came in that a man had been seen with what was believed to be a knife, police arrested the suspect, who is from Nuneaton.

He had sustained a minor injury to his face and is currently in police custody. Nobody else was injured.

Acting sergeant Danny Salmon said: "I would like to reassure the local community that this is an isolated incident and police were on the scene quickly to make an arrest and prevent any further disorder.

"Our investigation is ongoing and we would urge any witnesses to come forward and tell us what they have seen."
