A DRIVER who failed to stop after the car he was driving hit a Mini at Greenhill Crossroads, Lydiard Millicent, has been warned he could be jailed.
Joseph Gardiner, 29 of Morrison Street, abandoned the Ford Mondeo and left the scene after the crash on March 16, which left a woman injured.
He admitted failing to stop after an accident and driving without due care.
Swindon Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday that Gardiner, who has previous convictions for driving while disqualified and failing to stop, suffered excruciating cluster headaches and experienced one just seconds before the crash, which happened when he was test driving his mother’s car.
District Judge Simon Cooper adjourned the case until October 21, granted unconditional bail and handed the defendant an interim ban.
He also warned he was considering a custodial sentence.
“This was an appalling standard of driving,” he said.
“You caused serious damage, but more importantly, injury to the occupants of the Mini which was pushed to the side of the road.”
