A Swindon barber is offering a free Christmas meal to the town’s residents.

Sylvester King, 34, of Rogue 8 barbers will host the meal for anyone and everyone on Christmas Day this year.

“I am doing it because Christmas is one of the loneliest times of the year and this year we want to reduce that loneliness by getting people out to meet other people,” he said.

Hot food will be available in the form of a roast dinner, including beef, turkey and gammon, and Christmas pudding.

“I built the barbers based on helping the community and doing what I can do to help the community,” explained Sylvester.

“My parents died when I was 12, so I never really had a Christmas but this year I thought I would reach out to other people just like me to connect.”

Despite doing charitable things for Swindon in the past, this is Sylvester’s first time providing the festive meals.

“We have never done this before as I have focused on homeless haircuts, helping youths stay out of crime but this year we thought we do something different and if a success we will host every year,” he said.

The event will be held at The Drink Valley in Fleet Square.
