A Swindon pet sitter is hosting a charity dog walk en masse next month with over 30 dogs set to appear.

Megan Ody of West Swindon pet sits and walks dogs for a living, with her animal expertise cherished across the town.

The 27-year-old set up her business Pet Walks in April of 2022 having previously worked with children and deciding to switch career paths.

“I absolutely love animals and have always wanted to work with them, so I look after people’s pets while they’re away on holiday or at work and it is mostly dogs but I do heck in on cats sometimes,” said Megan.

“I used to work with children but I then moved to animals as I find them easier to deal with.”

Megan is going one step further though as she plans to host a large dog walk for several pets and owners to attend all at once.

“I just wanted to get all of my clients together to raise some money for a good cause and get some exercise,” she revealed.

The price to join in on the dog walk is £3 per dog or £5 for a pair of pooches, with all proceeds going towards Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

“I have chosen Battersea as they are a great charity to raise money for,” said Megan.

“They really help animals out so it seems apt to choose them.”

The born and bred Swindonian will be attending the event with her own dog, a four-year-old Dalmatian named Isla.

“I’ve had a few Dalmatians over the years as they are a crazy and naught breed,” said Megan.

“Isla is certainly a character!”

The dog walk will commence at the Lydiard House in Lydiard Park before the group go on a one hour walk around the scenery.

“We will introduce everyone and then once we are ready, set off on a big walk,” said Megan.

“This is the first time that I have done anything like this but if it is a success then I would very much like to do it again!”

Megan’s ambitious dog walk will take place at 12pm on Sunday, March 12, and all are welcome to attend.
