The owner of one of Swindon's newest beauty salons has recalled the terrifying experience which drove her to launch her own business.

Jazmine Paige of Tadpole Garden Village always wanted to have a career in hair and beauty but found herself working in the care sector for years.

In 2022, Jazmine was involved in a car crash which she says put things into perspective and kickstarted her new adventure.

“It has always been my dream to have my own salon and I’ve wanted this since around the age of 16 years old,” said Jazmine.

“I have had a mobile beauty service in the past that I did on the side of my main job in care which I had been in for several years but last year I had a really bad car crash.

“It was then that I decided to chase my dream as I realised that life is too short not to be who you want to be.”

Following her dreams is exactly what Jazmine did and on Wednesday, March 1, when opened her very own beauty salon in her hometown of Swindon.

Dyehard Aesthetics Hair-Extensions and Beauty in Gorse Hill has been in operation since Thursday - and business is already booming.

“We’ve been really busy since opening and I was really happy as I was fully booked throughout my first day,” she said.

“I love doing hair and makeup as a hobby anyway so now I’m doing it for work I’m delighted.”

The 24-year-old believes she could not be any better suited for her new position given both her experience and her welcoming demeanour.

“With hair and beauty, I always have loved speaking to people and making them feel good about themselves,” said Jazmine.

“I’m really chatty so I can just talk for days to people and it is quite empowering to her other women.”

The building has been transformed by local contractor Eddie Rudman, who has given the rooms a makeover of their own after they had previously been part of a tattoo studio for six months.

“Eddie has helped make this a salon as without him, there would be no built walls, no front signage on the front of the shop, no kitchenette, and no beauty room,” said Jazmine.

“He has worked wonders on the place!”

Jazmine’s new salon can be found at 227 Ferndale Road in Gorse Hill and she is currently taking bookings.
