Swindon Town’s club photographer is preparing to sit on every single seat in the County Ground to raise money for a special cause.

Callum Knowles will be challenging himself to sit on every single one of the Swindon Town stadium’s 15,393 seats in a bid to raise vital funds for his best friend following a recent cancer diagnosis.

The 25-year-old from Swindon joined the club in August 2022 and has been close mates with Nathan Wood for the best part of 10 years.

Nathan, also 25, is engaged to be married with a three-year-old daughter and six-month-old son, is now on his fourth cycle of intense chemotherapy since his testicular cancer diagnosis last November.

His treatment is going well and if successful, he could soon be cancer free, but he still faces the challenges of battling such an illness and supporting his young family with no income.

Callum wanted to do something to raise awareness and money to support Nathan and his two children with everyday living costs, as he’s been forced to give up his job.

On Sunday, March 26, he’ll be taking on the County Ground by sitting in every seat.

He’s teamed up with Oddballs, a clothing manufacturer which raises awareness and education on testicular cancer.

Callum initially set his fundraising target at £1,000 but eclipsed this in just one week, currently sitting just shy of the £2,000 mark.

Speaking to the club about his challenge, Callum said: “Nathan is like a brother to me and I know he’d do something similar if roles were reversed.

“He’s such a fantastic guy and you can’t help but be touched by his story, which has been devastating for all of us, but he’s shown incredible strength to stay so positive during such a horrific time to continue supporting his family and undergo his treatment.

“I can’t cure his cancer, but I can make a small gesture in a bid to make life that little bit easier for him at this time. I know how much of an effect the chemo has had, and it’s so hard watching someone you care about go through that.

“My challenge is nothing compared to his, but I’ll be testing myself in a different way, and hope my fundraising figure will continue to rise with the kindness of others.”
