A former Pizza Hut manager has made shocking claims about poor food hygiene and staff treatment at two of the company's delivery outlets in Swindon.

Toni Smith of Rodbourne claims she witnessed incidents of malpractice while working at the Groundwell Road and Clive Parade branches over the last year and a half.

She alleges food was regularly left to go mouldy and staff were encouraged to urinate in a neighbouring alleyway after the toilet broke.

Pizza Hut says an investigation has been launched.

Having seen enough, Toni left her position and decided to speak out about the conditions she worked in.

“They do not give a s**t about their staff or food standards let alone customer health,” she claimed.

“I’m no longer there to monitor it so I’m raising awareness as I don’t want people to be ill.”

The 27-year-old’s main concern surrounds the food hygiene practices at the delivery outlets after witnessing food being left to turn mouldy.

“Food is overprepared for the week leaving food to go mouldy constantly,” said Toni.

“I couldn’t tell you when pizzas were originally stretched but they’re meant to be binned every six hours.

“There was mould on the walk-in fridge and you got criticized for caring about food safety.”

Toni also says staff were asked to urinate outside due to a broken toilet and sink.

“When the toilet and sink broke we were told that there was an alleyway outside," she said.

“After refusing to work somewhere that you couldn’t go to the toilet or was your hands, you were told you had to.”

The delivery sites are franchised and are separate from the Pizza Hut restaurants in Swindon.
