A new gym will soon open in Swindon.
JD Gyms has taken over the space formerly occupied by B&M Bargains in Unit 2 of County Road Retail Park on Ocotal Way as the budget retailer has now moved to a larger space across the road.
In May, the site's owner, Custodian Property Income, successfully applied to Swindon Borough Council for a Certificate of Lawfulness which would allow the building's interior to be changed without the need for a planning application to be submitted and approved.
Work is now well underway to transform the building into a two-floor fitness facility, with 160 parking spaces available.
A spokesperson said: “When launched, JD Gyms Swindon will be a state-of-the-art facility, with hundreds of pieces of the very best fitness equipment, a huge class studio hosting unlimited classes, an Eleiko functional zone, a glute area, a sled track, and luxury changing rooms with saunas.
“Plus, there will be vast free weights and cardio areas.
“JD Gyms Swindon will give you a truly cutting edge fitness experience at an incredibly affordable price.”
It should be open by the end of the year.
The gym is offering 200 memberships which cost £5 for the first month with no contract or joining fee.
