At least seven police units, including an armed police unit, and two police incident vans attended the disturbance at The Greyhound pub in Mortimer Street.

It is believed that one customer resisted arrest after police were called to the scene at around 7.30pm on Wednesday evening following a disturbance.

An eyewitness said: “There were a lot of police there. It was a big disturbance and they drafted in lots of officers to contain it.”

Another eyewitness said: "It was no mass brawl, one very difficult customer that refused to leave with his wife when asked politely.

"He started to cause trouble and once outside resisted arrest. The staff got everyone out and closed the pub. Job well done I say."

Wiltshire Police and the Greyhound have been approached for more details.

The Greyhound is a popular pub for sports fans, as it has three TV screens showing major sporting events, as well as having a pool table, skittles, and running poker nights.
