SWINDON College Old Boys final league with Bletchley has been cancelled as they are heading to Devon on tour.

Martin Peaple’s side have found it tough this season in Southern Counties North and won only one game all season, that coming last month against High Wycombe.

With that in mind Peaple decided to award the game to Bletchley with the match a dead rubber as both side’s fates have been decided.

Old Boys have been relegated and Bletchley are league champions. The meeting earlier in the season saw Old Boys conceding 101 unanswered points, still their heaviest defeat of the season, and with Old Boys already having arranged their tour it made sense to award the points to the Buckinghamshire club.

“There’s no point in dragging them all the way down here to play the last game of the season, I’ve spoken to the league secretary and they’re fine with it. Bletchley have already won the league, they’ll get a five point win,” said Peaple.

Next season Old Boys will go back into the Berks, Bucks & Oxon rather than the Dorset & Wilts as they consider it a better league for them to develop in next season.

“Berks, Bucks & Oxon I think it’s better for us as it’s the stronger league and there’s no second teams in it.”
