SWINDON Flames recorded victories at three different age groups on their most recent visit to Farnborough Leisure Centre, including a thumping win over Chippy Trixters B for the Youth section.

Flames beat the Trixters 34-0, with captain Liam Coleman leading the way with 10 goals, while further efforts came from Harry Llewellyn (7), Charlie Browning (6), debutant Harry Hayes (4), Harry Gobey (3), Ethan Easton (2), Dylan Jackson and Joseph Llewellyn.

Flames Juniors were up next, and a 4-2 success over Banbury Bulldogs was a welcome result for a team which was hastily put together from scratch with the inclusion of Zach Dolphin from Swindon Chiefs, Hannah Archer, netminder Cameron Brown from Hastings and Harry Llewellyn, who was promoted from the Youth team.

Flames made light work of missing a number of regular players and went at Banbury strongly from the start. Dolphin soon put the Flames in front and two goals from Will Harding soon had the Swindon side in a comfortable position. Banbury gradually got to grips with the game and began to give as good as they got but found Cameron Brown in impressive form in the Swindon goal until he lost a rebound which rolled over the line with three minutes left in the first period.

Things remained tight in the second half until Dylan Bonner extended the lead halfway through the period before Banbury scored a second with just over two minutes remaining.

The Swindon Pee Wee team finally got their season up and running with a comfortable 15-1 success over Chippy Trixsters B. The Swindon youngsters scored 10 in the first half and limited the Chippy side to just one breakaway goal. In the second period things quietened down, as only five further goals were scored.

Captain Joseph Llewellyn was in unstoppable form as he racked up 11 goals, with Freddie Fletcher (2), Jake Shelton and Oliver Waldron also scoring for the Swindon side as they recorded their first win of the season.

In the Juniors’ second game, Swindon found the going much tougher against a full-strength Ash Avalanche team. The Ash side registered seven goals while Swindon could only respond with a single reply from Will Harding.

Swindon Flames are always looking to recruit new members at all levels and are especially seeking members for the newly formed Pee Wee (under 12) team.

Training is held weekly at the Link Centre on Saturdays from 10am-11am under the guidance of GB ice hockey coach Mark Beggs. Further information can be obtained by e-mailing info@swindonflames.com or by ringing 01793 336290 or 01793 820856.
