AUSTRALIA international Brad Smith has been recalled by his parent club Liverpool.

The 20-year-old was not in the Town squad for the weekend's draw at Yeovil after returning from international duty alongside Town teammate Massimo Luongo and Swindon boss Mark Cooper revealed this morning that Smith has been recalled by the Anfield club.

Cooper said: "He started to look as though he was going to produce. It took him a while to get used to the way we play but he started to show glimpses of what we brought him in for.

"It's one of those things, Liverpool have recalled him and we can't do anything about it."

The full-back's return to Liverpool has knock-on effects, most immediately for Town's defensive shape against Rochdale tomorrow night and going forward into international breaks. Town will now have play without Luongo and Yaser Kasim if they are called up by their respective countries rather than being able to rearrange the fixture as they have done on two occasions already this season.

Smith made eight starts and one appearance from the bench during his time at Swindon.
