JORDAN Turnbull believes his first Swindon Town goal is imminent.

At Yeovil the centre-half had a glorious chance to open his account for his on-loan club as he rose to meet a Nathan Byrne free-kick but put his header wide.

Though goals do not come with territory of playing at the back a threat from set-pieces is something most top sides will carry. It is something that Turnbull is keen to add to his game, partly because it would get a few of his teammates off his back about his success rate going forward at set-pieces.

“I think it’s coming,” the 19-year-old told the Advertiser on the subject of his first goal. “All the boys banter about it. I’m in the box every corner and wide free-kick looking to get on the end of the ball. I glanced just wide (on Saturday) but hopefully it’s coming.

“Maybe I need to change my runs, change my style of approach. It’s definitely important for centre-backs to get on the scoresheet at some point in the season and I think that my goal will be coming soon.”

Like most Swindon fans and players, Turnbull is looking forward to returning to the County Ground tonight against Rochdale, where he is aware Town must improve.

“We relish playing at home, it’s a great stadium and a great ground for us and we’ll get the ball moving and be high tempo from the off, hopefully we can get the win,” he added.

“Now we’re going to start concentrating on Tuesday’s opposition. We’ll watch the replay from (Saturday), see what we can do better, work on it and the set the team out to get all three points.”
