HIGHWORTH Town manager John Fisher is hoping that his side can get back to winnings way tomorrow when they make the trip to Thame United in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

The Worthians are looking to bounce back from Tuesday night’s 4-1 loss at Ascot United but Fisher is refusing to pile the blame on his players for the margin of the result.

With the majority of the squad not arriving at Ascot until 7pm, 45 minutes prior to kick-off, several members didn’t turn until 7.20pm due to traffic.

Given the lack warm-up, Ascot took full advantage and cruised into a 3-0 lead inside 10 minutes.

“I can’t have a go at the players because they can only leave work at a certain time,” he said. “We left at 5.30pm and got there at 7pm, a couple of cars left a bit later got caught in an accident getting out of Swindon.

“Hopefully one day the Hellenic League will have a bit of sense when sending teams all over the place in midweek.

“So it is nice that the trip to Thame is on a Saturday and it gives a chance to get back to winning ways.”

Highworth head to Thame with no fresh injury concerns with Ash Taylor still struggling with a hamstring problem.

With Fisher having put together a large squad this term, he is pleased that he is not struggling for numbers.

“As we speak the squad is as it was on Tuesday” Fisher said. “We have got good numbers at the moment.

“I am happy with the squad that I have got, there is no point bringing in anybody for the sake of it.

“We brought in Dan Drewett a couple of weeks ago and he gives us another good option up front.”

Wootton Bassett Town will be hoping for a better result than Wednesday night’s 3-0 loss at Oxford City Nomads, as they host Milton United.

Paul Braithwaite is likely to be in contact with Shrivenham boss Sam Collier with the Barrington Park outfit managing to hold Bassett’s hosts tomorrow to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Shrivvy themselves will be looking to build on that draw when they make the journey to Kidlington.

Collier’s men have not tasted victory in the league since the August bank holiday weekend and the point on Wednesday was their first in 10 matches.
