MALMESBURY Victoria manager Wayne Kibble isn’t about to hit the panic button after seeing his side concede 10 goals in two matches.

The Flying Monk Ground outfit fell to a 5-3 defeat at home to Southbrook in the Premier Division just seven days after their 5-2 loss at league leaders Melksham Town reserves.

Although Kibble knows that is hardly the best preparation for this Saturday’s trip to Western League side Bradford Town in FA Vase, the Vics chief is confident that his side will be able to raise their game.

“To be honest, we were missing four players on Saturday and two of them were full-backs,” Kibble said. “We have been short on numbers for the last couple of weeks and that he really affected us.

“The good news is that we will be back to full strength at the weekend.

“We will give them a bit of a beasting in training on Tuesday before a lighter session with a bit more banter on Thursday.

“We have got two coach-loads going to Bradford on Saturday and if the lads can’t get up for a match like that then they won’t be involved - it is as simple as that.”

Southbrook stormed into the lead at the Flying Monk Ground when Jamie Sheppard netted from 25 yards after a half-cleared corner, Matty Bennett was left unmarked to double the advantage.

Malmesbury’s Will Picter was then brought down in the area and Ant Brown slammed home the spot kick.

Picter pulled Vics level when he got on the end of Brown’s cross.

Southbrook, who now lie fifth in the table, restored their lead through Bennett before Matt Fusco got on the end of a fine diagonal ball from Jordan Mathews to level the scores.

However, former Vics player Clint Walker put the visitors into the lead once more before Bennett completed his hat-trick.

“Once we got it back to 3-3, we went after the win,” Kibble said. “But we got caught and their number nine (Bennett) was the difference between the two sides.

“What is good is that we get our first choice starting XI back for the weekend and hopefully we can cause another upset.”

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Supermarine Sports were unable to build on last weekend’s 6-3 success at Marlborough Town as they lost 2-0 at Chippenham Youth.

Wroughton climbed up to fifth in the table with a comfortable 4-1 success over Malrborough Town.

Trowbridge Town hauled themselves up the table with a 2-0 win at Devizes Town reserves.

In the Corsham Print Senior KO Cup, Wootton Bassett Town Development were edged out by high-flying league rivals Ludgershall Sports, with the hosts losing 1-0.
