SWINDON Wildcats captain Jan Kostal believes that his side must turn their half into a fortress in a bid to turn their home form around.

The Cats are yet to win a league game in front of their home fans at the Link Centre this season but have the chance to put that record right when they host Milton Keynes Lightning tomorrow night.

However Lightning will be no pushovers after they beat Basingstoke Bison, who were Swindon’s undoing on Sunday, at their own rink 6-4 on Saturday.

Kostal though believes if Swindon continue to play how they did against Bison on Sunday then their luck at home will change.

"I think we played a lot better than we did on Saturday,” he said after the game.

"We lost but I think we played good and I think we can have our heads not down on the floor, but held high.

"It was a difficult match but we must be looking forward to the next match now.

"I think we were unlucky (against Basingstoke). We were good in battles we had a lot of shots but I think if we had a little bit more luck we would win.

“I think we must make our end like a castle and defend our castle and defeat their army.”

As the team captain Kostal is feeling some of the responsibility to turn the home form around falls directly on his shoulders.

Swindon sit just one place above Bracknell Bees at the bottom of the table and know they need a win to stop themselves being cut adrift.

“As captain I want to help the young guys and talk to the guys and be the best player on the ice to inspire them to a win,” he added.

“I am happy that I am captain and I want to encourage the guys to get them the win but we must play like a team.

“I think if we go to the net more, hit more surprise shots and then go for the rebound that is the recipe to win the game.

“I see no bad things on the match (against Bison) apart from not getting the win. We must be looking forward now and we have the match on Wednesday again at home and we must start how we finished.”
