SWINDON ended the first half of the campaign with a 1-1 draw with Swansea City in Conference North.

Trialling a new shape, Swindon put the Welsh visitors under a lot of pressure in the first half but again failed to capitalise on the opportunities they created.

The second half saw much the same pattern of play; Swindon hammering on the door, with Swansea holding their hosts at arms length.

Eventually, the hosts’ pressure paid off, with Chris Parsons firing the ball into the circle and Jim Towers stepped in front of his man and deflected beyond the unsighted keeper, right into the top corner. Swindon had further opportunities, however it was Swansea who managed to sneak a goal late on and hold on for the draw.

Skipper Luke Cejer said: “We can’t sit around feeling sorry for ourselves but it is fair to say we have not yet reached anywhere near our full potential.

“Let’s get our heads up and look forward to the New Year and a fresh start.”
