TARIQ Quaddus’ trainer Richard Farnan wants to keep his British Masters bronze light-heavyweight champion busy this year.

The Swindon-based southpaw has been working with Farnan for the last 12 months and as they prepare for their seventh fight together on Friday, February 13 on the World Awaits bill at the Oasis Leisure Centre, the trainer knows that the former England amateur cannot rest on his laurels.

But before Farnan and Quaddus can start looking to the future, they must deal with the durable Stoke brawler Mark Till.

“Mark Till is experienced, he is going to come and have a go and have a fight, which is fine,” Farnan said.

“We will get that one out of the way, we know what is coming and we know what we have got to do, then we will plot and plan after February 13.

“I need Tariq to be busy this year, we had six last year and we need six minimum this year, but I’d like eight or 10.”

With fight night now just over two weeks away, Farnan says that they have just been fine tuning his charge.

Farnan admits while wanting to push his 24-year-old forward, he says that he had to keep the reins on.

“We did get offered an opponent that is very dangerous,” Farnan said.

“I consulted a couple of people on him and the guy was and an old sparring partner of Joe Calzaghe and Nathan Cleverly.

“I got told Calzaghe and Cleverly used to smash him up in sparring, but never put him down and he came forward after getting a beating.

“Tariq has only had six fights (with me). He is good, but this guy has done so many rounds with Joe Calzaghe, he knows how to fight a southpaw. We will have it at some stage, but it is a little bit early right now.”
