Walcot boxer Mikey McDonagh shook off a three-month ring absence to overcome Droitwich ABC opponent Clarence Hall in front of a packed house at the Civic Hall in Stourport last Friday, writes Dave Veysey.

The 13-year-old made a fast start – landing with left jabs and straight rights to comfortably take the opening round.

His opponent was continually warned for holding as he struggled to come to terms with McDonagh’s superior firepower.

During the middle session the Walcot youngster easily evaded Hall’s advances whilst scoring readily on the counter.

The final round mirrored the earlier two, with Mikey scoring with fast combinations of punches in a one-sided finish to the bout.

At the final bell McDonagh was awarded a unanimous points victory.

Meanwhile on the same bill, club-mate Hannah O’Brien performed well on debut in an exhibition contest with Sam Morton from the host club.

The 13-year-old landed with some accurate left jabs during an entertaining match.

The pair will meet up again on the Walcot home show on Friday at the Supermarine Sports and Social Club.

Finally, Walcot boxer Orgest Peroshi powered to a one-sided victory over Remel Ramsarran.
