ADVER Sport's Tom Bassam hands out his player ratings from Swindon Town's play-off final defeat to Preston.

Wes Foderingham

Was left far too exposed for all of Preston's goals and but for a fantastic save to deny Beckford it could have been worse for Town. Still though, four goals... 6

Jack Stephens

Run ragged by Garner defensively, but did almost produce a moment of magic in the first half. 5

Nathan Thompson

Gave away the free-kick that led to opener and got injured as Beckford scored. The worst three minutes of his career. 4

Jordan Turnbull

Battled well but was schooled regularly by the Preston front line, Beckford in particular had his number. 5

Swindon Advertiser:

It's utter desolation for Town fans

Nathan Byrne

Town's best player by some distance. Woods was given a hard time by the diminutive wide-man who put the ball on a plate for Smith when he should have scored just before Preston's third. 7

Massimo Luongo

Absent for too much of the game, the Aussie international was shackled by a fearless Welsh. 5

Yaser Kasim

Classy as ever, but despite his best efforts, could not create too much in the way of clear openings. 6

Ben Gladwin

Absolutely anonymous for his time on the pitch. His touch was poor and substitution deserved. 4

Harry Toffolo

Not at his best, but rarely afforded the chance to deliver from the left. 5

Jonathan Obika

Had a couple of chances in the second half though you were never convinced he would take them. 5

Michael Smith

Wasted the big chance to get Town back into the game and a minute later Town were 3-0 down. It sumemd up his afternoon. 4

Subs

Sam Ricketts (on for N Thompson, 5)

His legs have gone and Beckford exploited it ruthlessly. The assurance his experience should bring was absent. 4

Louis Thompson (on for Gladwin, 58)

Showed glimpses of what Town have missed in his absence even if he was clearly hampered by the shoulder. It could have different if he was fit. 6

Andy Williams (on for Toffolo, 66)

Balls bobbled off his shin and he looked every bit the half-fit striker. 6
