KELVIN Young is determined to fit in another fight before he gets married this summer after his dream York Hall bout was called off.

The Penhill pugilist was due to fight at the home of British boxing next weekend in a Southern Area final eliminator against Kevin Greenwood.

However, the Londoner has pulled out of the contest leaving Young at a loose end.

But 28-year-old Young, who wants to fight before the start of July with his wedding to Lisa McGregor the following month, has already entered into a war of words with Sam Couzens for a third fight.

Couzens stopped Young in May 2013 in a four-round contest before the super-middleweight gained revenge when defending his Southern Area title four months later.

However, before the Young-Couzens trilogy can be completed, the Hampshire fighter meets Chris Hobbs at the end of this month before facing Darren McKenna at the start of July.

“Me and Sam need a straightener,” Young said. “It is 1-1 at the minute.

“We are friends, but at the moment a few things are getting said. When the fight is over we will shake hands and go back to being friends.

“It won’t happen until October or November, but it will be a great fight.”

While plans for the autumn are underway, it is the short term that Young is focusing on now.

“I’m gutted that the fight is off, I’ll have to wait to get a fight at the York Hall now,” the former IBO inter-continental champion said.

“Hopefully we can get something else sorted pretty quickly - I’m getting married at the start of August and weddings don’t come cheap.

“Keith (Mayo, Young’s manager) has got a show at the end of this month (June 27 at the Grange Drive Community Centre), so maybe there is a chance to get on that or something else.

“I’m going on my stag-do at the start of July so that is probably when I need to fight by.”

Young is determined to get his career back on track this year following his shock defeat to Kiril Psonko in a non-title but last November which subsequently saw him stripped of his IBO crown.

Since that contest, the 28-year-old has faced Joe Walsh twice, drawing the first one in February and then defeating him in April.
