CROFT JFC have declared their annual charity tournament a big success and believe the 2015 event, held last weekend, has exceeded the £1,000 they raised for Prospect Hospice last year.

A spokesman for the club said: “Last year we managed to raise £1000for Prospect and we hope that this may have been exceeded this year.

“With over 100 teams taking part over the various age groups and coming from Avon, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire there was much football to be played.

“The spirit shown by all of the teams on both days was a pleasure to behold and a special thanks should go to all the players, manager’s and parents, which added to the enjoyment of all at the event and making it a true festival of football. The future of our game is in good hands if this is anything to go by.

“Croft Junior FC would like to extend a big thank you to all involved, especially to the tournament organising committee, who put in countless hours to ensure a successful delivery, as well as to all the numerous volunteers on both days, the sponsors and all who kindly donated raffle prizes. As well a special thank you must also got to the referees who volunteered their time free of charge.

“The club’s ethos of fun for all was certainly upheld, and our decision to allow all participating teams to progress from the league stages so that all would have the taste of a semi final was warmly received.”
