SWINDON captain Andy Staff has his eyes set on a top-two finish if his side can overcome Warminster tomorrow.

Fourth-placed Swindon will be looking to leapfrog Warminster when they travel to their Glos/Wilts rivals tomorrow.

Staff takes his team to Sambourne Road full of confidence following a six-wicket win over Apperley, and they sit just eight points behind Warminster in the league.

“We’ve got a couple of tough games coming up against teams around us in the table and if we can win those, it puts us in a good position to try to finish in the top two, which would be a tremendous achievement,” he said.

“We have been fourth for the last few weeks so if we could pull ourselves up another place, that would be a great reward for the good form we’ve shown.

“With six games to go, we are pretty pleased with where we are."

Warminster’s own title chances suffered a setback last weekend as they were beaten by 42 runs at top-of-the-league Chippenham.

But Staff is not underestimating the scale of the challenge that awaits Swindon as they look to secure back-to-back wins for the first time since the beginning of June.

“We did manage to beat them earlier in the season but they are a good side, which is clear from where they are in the table,’’ he added. “We fancy our chances against most people right now.

“Our batting was really good last weekend so if we put that together again and maybe get our bowling up to that level too, we will be in with a really great shout.”
