TOWN chairman Lee Power has revealed the club are in talks to bring in Celta Vigo's Yelko Pino on loan in January after the Spanish club announced earlier in the day that the player had already joined the Robins.

The La Liga club, who have decided Pino is not yet ready for their first team, earlier announced the 18-year-old had joined the Robins on loan.

However, Town stated that the confirmation on Celta's own website and social media outlets was incorrect when contacted by the Advertiser this afternoon.

Now Power has told BBC Wiltshire that Pino is a target and a deal could be visited in January.

The attacking midfielder reportedly refused to play for the club's B side and failed to secure a loan in Spain before their transfer deadline.

However, Celta are thought to consider Pino a genuine prospect and tied him down to a five-year deal back in 2013, having seen off interest from European giants Barcelona and FC Porto to secure his future at Balaídos.

As part of that contract, there was a guarantee Pino would be a member of the first team squad, an apparent source of the player's dissatisfaction at being asked to play in their B side.

In the announcement on the Celta website, Pino stated his desire to come to England and gain first team experience.

"I'm leaving to play in a competitive setting with an idea to learn, gather experience, and return a better player," he said.

"It's always difficult to leave your home, but I will gather experience and mature to return an improved player."
