NICKY Ajose believes he and his teammates have to take responsibility for their poor performance at Blackpool.

The striker netted his second goal since his return in the 2-2 draw last week against Doncaster. However he did not get any opportunities to show what he could do in front of goal at Bloomfield Road, as Town’s attacks constantly broke down in the final third.

Since the win at Crewe Ajose is the only Town player to score from open play. Against Blackpool, although Swindon dominated possession, neither he nor anyone else looked like adding to that list.

In fact, it was their hosts who had the better of the chances.

A clearly frustrated Ajose saw Blackpool's ability to do what he and his teammates could not do, score, as the most damning indictment on Town’s performance.

“We can’t really have any arguments about not deserving to win the game when we haven’t created anything,” he told the local media.

“We were flat in the final third and I don’t think their ‘keeper has had a save to make, from what I can remember.

"We’ve been beaten by a very average side to be honest and we didn’t do enough to win the game.

“We’ve come here and conceded, which is disappointing, but we still should be able to score a few goals.

“We’ve got to look at ourselves. It’s nothing to do with the manager. It’s nothing to do with the coaches.

“As players we have not performed well enough. It’s nothing to do with tactics, shape, this, that or the other. It’s just individual performances.

“It wasn’t good enough.

“We kept the ball quite well but there was no cutting edge in the final third and no aggression there.

“We’ve come here to a side who are struggling also, they’ve won one home game in ten months, and we’ve not had a shot.

“We have a different front line today and people are at different stages coming back into the team.

“But that’s no excuse or reason to not be creating anything. All the footballers, myself included need to do more.”

The Swindon Advertiser was not permitted to attend Ajose's post-match press duties.
