SWINDON ladies returned home from Redland UWE with a 4-3 Premier 2A success.
The hosts opened the scoring from a penalty corner before Swindon drew level through Vicky Stokes after a pinpoint pass from Gael Little.
Redland regained the lead after seven minutes before Gemma Scrase rounded the hosts' keeper to restore parity.
But Swindon were trailing again soon after following another penalty corner.
On the stroke of half-time, Stokes netted her second to make it 3-3 after turning in Linda Brouwers’ pass.
After the interval, Swindon dominated the second period, however any chances Redland did create, debutant stopper Paige Warman was equal to them.
The winner came following a fine run from Scrase which put in player-of-the-match Rachel King to find the target.
After the game, two-goal scorer said Stokes was jubilant.
She said: “We worked hard and it’s great to see our efforts turn into such a great win.”
n SWINDON came up short against Gloucestershire outfit Wotton-under-Edge in the GoCrea8 Men’s League Conference North, losing 4-1.
Swindon found themselves behind early on and trailed 2-0 at half-time before Henry Cheney’s great solo effort gave the Isambard School-based side hope at 3-1.
Wotton though added a fourth with a well-taken deflection, with Swindon hosting Lydney in their first home game of the season on Saturday at Isambard School (11am).
