SWINDON Town boss Mark Cooper will be looking to piece together the pieces of a broken jigsaw as he prepares his side for the arrival of Peterborough on Saturday.

The medical room at the County Ground is starting to resemble an A&E ward, with Brad Barry the latest to check himself in after suffering a severe concussion in Tuesday night’s defeat to Oxford United.

Cooper, who joked he may have to play with eight forwards against the Posh, is desperate to see reinforcements brought in, with Raphael Branco the only fit central defender available for Saturday’s League One encounter, after Jordan Turnbull’s red card ruled him out for three games.

Jordan Williams had a course of injections on the fluid build up in his knee, but is not allowed to partake in any action for six weeks, while fellow Wales Under 21 teammate Louis Thompson will still be absent on international duty, unless he doesn’t play for Wales against Denmark on Friday.

However, until Town chairman Lee Power acts in the loan market then Cooper is left to put together something that resembles a team from the odd parts he has left.

“Sometimes out of adversity these things turn around. We dust ourselves down on Thursday and try and get some kind of team out on the pitch,” said Cooper.

“Obviously we’ve lost Brad Barry now who could play centre-half. We’ve got to make sure he’s okay.

“I hope (we’ll look at reinforcements). The chairman will probably look at that and say we’ve got to do something because players that would be in the team are nowhere near being fit.

“The next focus is Saturday.

“We’ve got to somehow piece a team together before then.

“That’s what it is. We’re having a terrible run with injuries and suspensions and we can’t do anything about it.

“Looking at it we’ll have to play two at the back and eight up front and just go for it at the minute.

“We have one centre-half fit at the club so we have to find a way of doing something."

Barry was released from hospital yesterday morning after spending the night at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital and is likely to be sidelined for at least two weeks.

A brief Town statement yesterday morning said: “The club can confirm that Bradley Barry has been released from hospital this morning.

“He suffered a severe concussion but his CT scan was clear and he spent a good night at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

“The club will continue to monitor his condition and he is likely to be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks.’’ Barry later commented on Twitter: “Thank you for all the kind messages from everyone means a lot!

“Want to thank the staff at Oxford's John Radcliffe hospital for everything."
