THE ADVERTISER understands that Swindon Town are looking to bring midfielder Ben Gladwin back to the County Ground whilst also eyeing a loan move for Bristol City defender Adam El-Abd.

Gladwin was sold to Queen’s Park Rangers alongside Australian international Massimo Luongo in a deal reported to be worth a combined £3.5million in May but the 23-year-old could be set to follow in the footsteps of Louis Thompson, who rejoined Town on loan from Norwich City for a second time last month.

Former Marlow man Gladwin has made three appearances for QPR so far this season.

Sources close to the player would not be drawn on the issue when contacted by the Advertiser, while QPR were unaware of any such deal.

Meanwhile, the Advertiser understands Town made contact with local rivals City about 30-year-old El-Abd in June, but no deal came to fruition over the course of the summer.

With Raphael Branco the only fit central defender available for Saturday’s League One tie with Peterborough, Lee Power knew he had to act fast to bring in some defensive options for manager Mark Cooper.

El-Abd joined then-League Two Bury on loan last November, where the Egypt international made 24 appearances and played a key role in helping the club win promotion.

The former Brighton man has two years left on his contract at Ashton Gate and also attracted interest from Bury and Bradford City during the close season.
