SWINDON Cycle Speedway Club ran out of steam in the final stages of their match against Poole on Sunday, eventually falling to a 91-88 defeat at home.

Throughout the 18 heats, the teams were never separated by more than four points, until a couple of costly errors in the final few heats of the fixture finally swung the meeting in the visiting team’s favour.

Jim Bailey was one of Swindon’s star performers on the day, showing that the extra winter training he put in has been paying off, whilst Dean Hook finally got to grips with the technical Swindon circuit to keep his side in touch at all times.
