HEAD coach Luke Williams has conceded that Swindon Town have accepted that they may have to do without Nicky Ajose and Yaser Kasim next season.

Ajose has proven himself as one of the deadliest strikers in League One this term after signing for Town on a free transfer last September and has netted 23 goals in all competitions.

The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year deal upon his arrival but Town chairman Lee Power has already revealed the club have received interest in Ajose.

Iraq international midfielder Kasim has enjoyed three strong seasons at Town but reportedly came close to a move to a Premier League club in the January transfer window, only for that to fall through.

In an interview with BBC Wiltshire, Williams said that Town must be sensible when it comes to their future preparations and added that included planning for life without two of their key players.

“Yes, I think that’s a sensible way to think,” said Williams.

“Nick has scored so many goals – I think any club would be interested in a man who can put the ball in the back of the net that many times.

“It’s beyond me that Yaser is still playing League One football. I can’t find the reason. I’m struggling to find (flaws) in his game.

“It’s highly likely that Yaser will play either Premier League football or Championship football next season.

“All the boys are ambitious and they should want to play at the next step.”
