SKIPPER Freddie Martin says he has still yet to see a complete performance from Lechlade as they look to make it three wins out of three at the start of the season this weekend.

Despite the season being just a fortnight old, Lechlade are the only side who can boast a 100 per cent record in Premier Two Glos/Wilts and can maintain their position as the early pace-setters with victory at home to Burbage & Easton Royal on Saturday.

Lechlade were landslide 189-run winners over Chippenham on the opening day of the season but found life much tougher against Thornbury last weekend, eventually edging home by 14 runs.

Captain Martin is delighted by the results his side have picked up so far but reckons there is still a bit to more to come in terms of performance and is eager to see that come together against Burbage at the Manor Ground.

“It’s been a great start. We did it with the bat in the first game and the ball last weekend,” said Martin, who took over from Joe Breet as skipper for the 2016 campaign.

“If we can put a performance together where we do it with both, then it should be a really good performance and hopefully we will be able to keep on winning.

“Personally, it’s been a great start for me as captain and I am loving every minute of it.

“There’s a great group of guys here at the club and there’s lots of things to be positive about.

“Hopefully we can get another win this weekend to keep that momentum going.”

Burbage will be something of an unknown quantity for Lechlade as this weekend’s fixture will be the first time the two sides have met in the WEPL since 2012.

David Cope’s side started the season on a winning note but were beaten by just a single run last time out and Martin says they are due plenty of respect.

“We don’t really know too much about them as we haven’t played them for a while but I am sure they will be a dangerous opponent,” said Martin.

“They will have a strong set-up, like everyone has got at Premier Two level, and we have to be wary of them.”
