PURTON’S ‘perfect’ start to the season has given captain Aaron Lee selection problems as his side look to maintain their unbeaten run against Calne.

Lee’s side, who saw overseas all-rounder Xander Pitchers hit 93 in last weekend's win over Westbury, sit top of WEPL Wiltshire as one of only three clubs with a 100 per cent record after two games.

That has seen a positive impact on the numbers turning up to training and with the second team also winning two from two in Division Seven of the Wiltshire League, there is no shortage of talent for Lee to pick from.

“This start is great for the club,” he said. “We struggled a little bit with numbers last year, which meant we had to go into certain fixtures with a weakened side.

“We are getting to a point now where we have to disappoint people, which is great from my point of view.

“If it keeps going this way, we will have to start thinking about getting a third team going again, which would be great for the club.

“With the second team doing well, when players are away, it is not such a big loss as we have guys who are in form who can come in and do a job.

“It’s all positive around the club. The atmosphere is really good and everybody is enjoying themselves, so it is a perfect start.”

Hosts Calne have failed to record a victory in either of their opening two games but Lee will not be complacent heading into the tie, having suffered a loss in the same fixture last season.

“The side going in this year are a lot stronger than last year,” he added.

“However, Tom Bowler is away this weekend and the following week.

“We have a guy coming in called Depak Ramani and he has scored over 200 runs in the first two games with the second team.

“He is in great form and hopefully we won’t feel the loss of Tom, in the nicest way possible.

“We’re over the moon with how it has started but we have to set small targets and not worry too much about what is going on around the league and what is going to happen in the future.

“We will have some tough games and it is a long old season, so we have got to keep working hard.”

Meanwhile, Swindon will look to make it two wins in row when they welcome a Great Bedwyn side to the County Ground who are yet to register a victory this term.
