CHARLIE Nesbitt continued his domination of the Hel Performance Motostar Championship as fellow Swindon rider Max Cook swept back inside the overall top 10 at Thruxton.

Nesbitt shrugged off a qualifying session crash to extend his championship lead to a mammoth 91 points with two victories at the Hampshire circuit, while Cook, 13, clinched seventh place in the second of two races to rise up the rankings.

Fifteen year old Nesbitt posted the fastest time in first qualifying on his E3 Motorsport/Redline KTM and remained unbeaten despite a fall that required a trip to the medical centre as a precaution.

Nursing two bandaged fingers, a flying last lap in second qualifying earned him his third straight pole position and he went on to take victory on race one - a 10-lap sprint.

The lead changed hands several times in the 12-lap race two before Nesbitt took control after the midway point and pulled clear for his second victory.

Nesbitt said: “It’s great to come away with another 50 points as the weekend was a tough one. It was a real battle in those early laps.’’ 2015 Aprilia Superteen champion Cook, in his development year in the HEL Motostar British Championship bounced back from setbacks in previous rounds at Knockhill and Snetterton, placing 10th in combined qualifying before finishing 15th in the opening race.

He climbed to seventh in the second to reach 10th overall.

“The bike felt brilliant and I’m really enjoying riding it around here,” he said.

The next round of the championship is at Brands Hatch between August 5-6.
