RECENT results won’t make Swindon Town sway from their way of playing, according to defender Lloyd Jones.

Tuesday’s late collapse at the hands of local rivals Bristol Rovers saw Luke Williams’ side slump to four games without a win in the league – with a win against Chelsea U23 in the EFL Trophy sandwiched in between.

That run has seen Swindon slump precariously close to the relegation zone, with only goal difference separating themselves and Southend United in 21st place.

Town travel to Oldham Athletic tomorrow, who have endured an equally indifferent start to their campaign following a large summer overhaul, with a new management team of Steve Robinson and Ian Baraclough taking the helm at Boundary Park.

They sit just a place above Town courtesy of a marginally superior goal difference but Jones says they won’t steer away from a style of play that has become synonymous with the club over the last few seasons in their efforts to stop a rot setting in.

“There are no confidence issues. We’re a very confident team and we are all behind the gaffer – I’ve been on loan a few times and I’ve never seen players behind a gaffer so much before,” he told the local media.

“It is on to the next game and we are lucky we have got a game Saturday and then we’ve got another game on Tuesday (against Northampton), so anyone can beat anyone in this league.

“We just need to go on that run and I’m sure we’ll be fine.

“No matter how the results go, we’re not going to change who we are and our style of play. We believe in the way we play and I’m sure the results will come.”

Jones netted his first goal for the club on Tuesday night at the County Ground as he bundled home Sean Murray’s corner but rather than adding to his tally this weekend, the Liverpool loanee is more concerned about the success of the team.

“I’m very happy to score and I just threw my head at it,” he added.

“But I’m about the team and I want the results, so it doesn’t matter who scores in this team as long as we get the three points at the end of the game.”
