PURTON’S Chris Mitchell and Stratton Churchway’s duo of Wendy Anderson and Janet Willis all tasted success at the Swindon & District Women’s Bowling Association finals.
Mitchell enjoyed a comfortable 21-11 win over Jo Richman (Highworth) in the four wood singles final before teaming up with Judith Fish and Alison Fail to defeat Wroughton 23-6 in the charity triples.
The combination of Anderson and Willis lifted the pairs title after beating Wroughton 21-10 before they helped Stratton Churchway to retain the double rinks title with a 38-37 success over Royal Wootton Bassett, which went right down to the wire.
Stratton led 20-14 across the board at ten ends and 30-24 at 15 but had been hauled back to 32-32 at 18 ends.
A two on the next put them 34-32 up and they held a 36-35 lead after 20 ends, and held onto the single shot advantage on the last end for victory.
Wroughton’s Babs Salter won the two wood singles 15-12 against club colleague Julie White but lost her secretary’s cup final 21-19 to Westlecot’s Carole Coombs and also missed out in the pairs with Carol Woodward.
Town Gardens’ Laura Latham enjoyed a victory with a 21-11 success over Royal Wootton Bassett’s Charlie Godwin in the champion of champions final.
