ROYAL Wootton Bassett found themselves in a winning groove at the weekend as the club’s first, second and third teams all scooped victories in their respective divisions.

Bassett A continued their impressive Division Three form as they made the trip to face Jets A.

A strong start at both ends of the court saw Bassett control the tie, with a large quantity of turnovers proving to be Jets' undoing.

Persistence paid of for Bassett, who eventually claimed a comfortable 57-19 victory – Annabel Hosking picked up Player of the Match as Bassett kept the pressure on league leaders RTM.

In Division Four, Bassett B made a slow start against Raychem E.

A poor first quarter saw Bassett fall behind, but the unbeaten hosts soon established a foothold in the game and started to make some much-needed turnovers.

Coupled with Bassett’s accurate shooting, Raychem quickly found themselves chasing the game as Jess Smith’s dogged work in defence helped Bassett record a 50-29 victory.

The win ensured Bassett remained second in Division Four, now just five points behind league leaders Faringdon with a game in hand.

Bassett C, meanwhile, completed the clean sweep against Mordon C in an entertaining Division Five contest.

Hosts Bassett went ahead by a point at the end of the first quarter, but even second and third quarters levelled the contest.

Strong mid-court play and accurate shooting saw Bassett re-establish and then stretch their lead in the game-winning fourth, though.

Laura Robbins’ efforts helped the hosts record a 51-42 win, bringing Bassett level on points with table topping Pinehurst D.

Lawn meanwhile experienced a weekend of mixed results.

The club’s first team slipped to a 43-51 home loss against Raychem B while Lawn B’s impressive run of form continued as they picked up their fifth win of the season at Croft B – winning 32-46.

Lawn C’s trip to Fairford B was cancelled after the hosts failed to field a team.
