SWINDON Town is expected to unveil Jody Morris as the club's new head coach on Tuesday after reports broke over the weekend that a deal had finally been agreed.

On Sunday, Sky Sports News reported that the 44-year-old had signed a contract to take on his first role in senior men's football, replacing Scott Lindsey who left for Crawley Town earlier this month.

Morris will be assisted by former Chelsea Under-18s head coach, Ed Brand - with the pair having already worked together between 2016-18 in the Blues' all-conquering academy side.

Both Morris and Brand were in attendance at the County Ground on Saturday for Swindon's 3-3 draw with Gillingham.

The new head coach watched Town take a first-minute lead through Jonny Williams before the Gills roared back and went 3-1 ahead inside the opening 15 minutes.

Interim boss Gav Gunning made three changes at half-time - including a debut for new signing Jake Cain - as Swindon drew back level through two goals from Charlie Austin.

The home side could have given new chief, Morris the perfect platform to take over with a late winner, but the Tyrese Shade's shot was deflected wide and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy was brilliantly kept out by Glen Morris when one-on-one.

Prior to the two late chances, Saidou Khan was sent off and will serve a two-match suspension courtesy of his second red card of the season.

Morris' first game in charge of Swindon will be away to Newport County in League Two on Saturday - 12:45pm kick-off.
