SWINDON'S Tom Brennan has been announced as fighting in a Southern Area Title Eliminator against Gideon Onyenani at the MECA early next month.

Neilson Boxing confirmed the fight as part of its Fight Town series, with the next installment arriving on Saturday, June 3.

Brennan is said to be a rising star in the local boxing scene and has already established himself as "a force to be reckoned with" in the middleweight division.

Meanwhile, opponent Onyenani is in a similar position but lost his past three fights having won all four prior to that.

Neilson Boxing say the 24-year-old "poses a significant challenge to Brennan's aspirations, ensuring a thrilling showdown that local boxing fans will be talking about for years to come."

Promoter, Mark Neilson, expressed his excitement about the matchup. He said: "This is a good test for both fighters.

"Tom Brennan is in his hometown for the first time, and Gideon Onyenani is proven at this level.

"The stakes are high in this Southern Area Title Eliminator, and we expect an epic battle that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. Swindon, get ready for an unforgettable night of boxing!"

Tom Brennan shared his thoughts on the upcoming bout, saying, "This fight is one that I can really get up for when it comes to putting the work in in the gym.

"I’ve huge respect for Gideon, the level he’s mixed at in his last couple of fights is pretty admirable.

"He’s obviously a special talent and someone that only the best version of myself will beat, one I’ll need to be beyond my best to mix with."

June 3 will be the second outing under the Neilson Boxing banner for Brennan, and he is pleased to be working with the Swindon-based boxing promoters.

Brennan said: "Neilson Boxing have been a breath of fresh air for me, Kyle in particular is a joy to work with, and I hope he’d say the same!

"Everything he’s mentioned he’s delivered. We’ve had some bad luck with opponents dropping out, but he really prides himself on delivering for his fighters and there’s no one I’d rather be signed to.”
