THE Thompson brothers have been reunited at League One Stevenage after Louis agreed a move to join older sibling Nathan on Monday.

Both played for Swindon Town after coming through the Robins' academy, but Louis left for Norwich City after 109 games while Nathan later moved to Portsmouth at the end of 186 outings.

The younger of the two, 28-year-old Louis enjoyed loan spells back at Swindon in 2016 and then at Shrewsbury Town prior to leaving Carrow Road for Milton Keynes Dons.

After only 30 appearances in two season in Buckinghamshire, Thompson signed for Portsmouth and played over 50 games while Nathan was at Peterborough United.

Louis Thompson has made 234 career appearances, scoring 10 goals - seven of which were at Swindon - ahead of his move to Stevenage.

Nathan signed for Steve Evans' men at the start of June after being released by Peterborough United. Neither player's contract length has been disclosed by Stevenage.

Speaking to his new club's media team, Louis Thompson said: "This is a club with lots of momentum.

“We have aspirations of surprising a few this year, and I believe in the project.

"I enjoyed my initial conversations with the manager and have been impressed with the infrastructure – now I’m ready for a good season.”

Moving on to discuss the impact brother Nathan had on his decision, Louis said: "He spoke very highly of the place.

"Once I came down and saw the place, I knew it would be good for me. I'm looking forward to working hard in pre-season and having a good year."

Louis revealed he was looking forward to playing in front of Nathan once again following his time in Wiltshire.

He said: "I'm looking forward to it. It's been a long time. Both of us have evolved quite a bit.

"It's been a fair few years, but I thoroughly enjoy playing with him back at Swindon, and I'm sure I will again this year."
