SWINDON Town will play Championship side Swansea City in a behind-closed-doors friendly in south Wales on Saturday.

The game, which Adver Sport understands to be taking place away from the Swansea.com stadium, will feature Town’s first team and a handful of trialists.

The Robins are set to compete in their fourth pre-season fixture following wins over Swindon Supermarine and Melksham Town, and a defeat to Corsham Town which mostly involved Under-18s for the League Two outfit.

As per Swansea’s wishes, no external media outlets reporting on either club will be allowed to attend, therefore Adver Sport’s coverage will be limited.

Speaking after Swindon’s 5-0 victory at Southern League Division One South Melksham last weekend, Robins boss Flynn said: “We’ve got Swansea now on Saturday – so that’s going to be tough, we know that – and then we’ve got Bristol City.

“The way [the schedule] has worked out, we’re starting with a lot of possession. In the next couple of games, we might not have as much possession.

“It gives me and Wayne [Hatswell – assistant manager] a really good chance to look at both sides of the game – in possession and out of possession.

“So far, so good in pre-season, but let’s have a look. The quality of Swansea and Bristol City is going to be a lot better than what we’ve faced already.”

Following the Swansea game on Saturday, Town will play Bristol City in another behind-closed-doors friendly next Tuesday lunchtime before the other half of a split squad will make its way up to Hereford to take on Paul Caddis’ Bulls in front of a crowd at Edgar Street in the evening.

Flynn’s men finish their pre-season calendar off with an away fixture against National League Eastleigh on Saturday, July 22 and a home game against Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, July 29.
