Undefeated Swindon boxer Lewis Roberts is in a bullish mood ahead of his next bout at the MECA on Saturday.

Roberts, who is promoted by the town’s Neilson Boxing, will star in their latest event which is set to feature a host of talent from across the South West.

In what will be his ninth contest, the bantamweight will come up against Ben Lilley who has an unbeaten record of his own with four wins and one draw to date.

Despite this, and acknowledging Lilley represents his most difficult fight so far, he remains confident his hand will be raised at the end of their 10-round fight.

Roberts said: “This is a real fight, it is undefeated against undefeated and someone’s unbeaten record has got to go.

“I know this fight is going to bring out the best in me. It’s going to bring out a much more brutal and violent side, so people can expect a really exciting fight.

“In this camp, I’ve been able to push to new limits. Without even fighting I’m doing my best in sparring, it’s bringing out a great work ethic in me.

“So far in the fights I’ve had I haven’t been able to show what I am capable of but in this fight, I will be able to and I think it’s time I made a statement in the division.”

Joining him on the card is fellow Wiltshire fighter Connor Gray, he too boasts an unbeaten record, with nine straight victories to his name.

Elsewhere, there are debuts for Elaine Harrison and Usamah Zaman who will be on the hunt for maiden victories.

Gloucester’s Shabir Haidary and Jack Bannister are also set to feature in a stacked undercard, which will also see Elizabeth Oshoba take on former Italian title challenger Nadia Fallhi.

Speaking ahead of the show, promoter Mark Neilson says he is looking forward to another night of action in Swindon.

“This is going to be a great night of boxing, we have a bit of everything and there are a lot of boxing fans in Swindon.

“I’d encourage people to come down and see the action for themselves. We’ve got debutants, local talent and fighter coming off of superb performances in their last fights, so there is plenty to look ahead to and I can’t wait.”
