Gavin Gunning has been very pleased by the work and quality of his more settled front three in recent games.

Aaron Drinan, Paul Glatzel, and Sean McGurk have started both of the last two games for Swindon as an attacking trio after a period of heavy rotation and have started to form chemistry between them with all three contracted for next season.

Drinan and Glatzel are both hitting form in front of goal as the pair have three goals in their last four games after getting a consistent run in the team.

Following a busy end to the January transfer window, Gunning had been having to rotate his attacking options as most were being brought up to full fitness having not been playing much regular football during the first half of the campaign.

Gunning has been pleased with how his attacking players have started to gel together now that he is able to give them regular game time.

He said: “It has been good that we have been more of a settled side, although the only thing with Sean is that he is only just coming into men’s football, so he is one that you have to manage through as he is still growing into his body.

“The other two are a bit more robust and they have been fantastic in the last few games, so that has been really pleasing.

“I think that their work rate is why they have scored those goals, they don’t switch off, they chase lost causes, Glatzel always ends up in the right position and he would chase a crisp packet down the line.

“Drinan has been a handful, so I have been really pleased with those two.”

Glatzel also felt that he was starting to build up a strong on-pitch connection with Drinan as they have started to play alongside one another more regularly, both finding the back of the net on Good Friday as Swindon beat Notts County.

He said: “I am enjoying it and we have been gelling quite well together recently.

“I think that we work well with each other and I am able to play off him because he is really good at holding the ball up.

“It seems to be working quite well at the moment and he has been able to score a few goals recently and that is helping the team, so it has been good for everyone.”
