These Royal ‘freebies’

Re Prince William’s trip to Canada. Another freebie holiday I see for the royal couple, courtesy of us mug taxpayers.

The best diplomats visiting foreign countries are surely ordinary people not this pair, coming from an overprivileged background and completely out of touch with how plebians live.

A few years ago Will and Kate spent over £2 million of taxpayers’ money on renovating their new many bedroomed home. What did ordinary people get? Bedroom tax! On top of that the pair recently spent £370,000 of taxpayers’ money on a trip to South-east Asia ( something most gap-year teenagers seem to manage on less than £1000).

The royal family has become an anachronism and is a morally indefensible institution!

We are sufficiently mature and sophisticated as a society surely not to need them in our midst any more.

The third of a billion pounds spent annually on the monarchy (excluding annual £100 security bills) could surely be better spent on an ailing NHS or reopen closed Childrens’ Centres?

The Government’s political choice that is austerity, that cuts public services, hits people with disabilities the hardest.

The Swindon Trades Council and Swindon People’s Assembly have arranged this opportunity, in the passionate belief that all citizens should be able to choose to be politically active where possible.

Please spread the word to people who need wheelchairs for mobility, and their carers.

Don’t Remainers get it?

HAVING lived in a democracy for 73 years, I have taken the good with the bad regarding my particular choice of party or candidate, which varies with most people, from youthful expectations to hard reality as we advance through the stages of our youth to mature adults and then to an older stage of reflective wisdom. However I have a bone of contention with the remain brigade.

You lost, end of. History will prove in my opinion that the British public made the right decision. I met MP David Stoddart once in the old now razed Park North British Legion. I told him that I did not support his party, but admired him as an excellent MP for Swindon, which he was. He replied, thank you, young man (as I then was).

Then he shook my hand, and we all know when someone means that, or is going through the motions his handshake a reflection of all personalities was sincere.

He has warned the House of Lords of which he is a member, that any skulduggery to thwart the democratic decision of a clear mandate to leave the European Disunion could result in their gravy train downfall. .With great respect, I exempt the many genuine caring older sages who deserve their honour in the House of Lords.

Cameron and Osbourne have fallen on their swords on this one. Don’t the Remainers get the message that the two most powerful politicians in Britain are now gone?By the will of the electorate .Or am I missing something regarding the university of common sense .Which you dont have to pay for,
